This place was fine. It was cheap and clean but I'm pretty sure we were the only people in the whole hotel. The location is ok, but not great. the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast looked not good so we skipped it.

The service from the staff was impeccable from the moment we walked into the lobby. They were warm and always attentive. We ordered room service and ate at the restaurant and the food was always delicious! The afternoon tea was a nice treat with a beautiful view of the sunset. We loved that there was a water machine in our room in addition to bottled water. Everything was perfect.

The pool looked clean but we didn't use it. The breakfast was good - lots of fruits, eggs, sausages + Asian options. The room was huge , clean and comfy, lots of electrical outlets to plug in our chargers. Easy walk to Borobudur and restaurants. Grab drivers knew where it was located. The lounge area near the pool was nice. We thought we were the only Western tourists staying at the hotel when we were there. The staff was superb and very accommodating.

The property was in excellent condition and incredibly beautiful. The chef was extremely talented. The attitudes of everyone were gracious and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the pools and the jacuzzi. Safety was an obvious priority which is important for a woman traveling alone.

Why did I wait so long to visit? A true surprise.
Why did I wait so long to visit? A true surprise. Not as tourist-geared as Ubud/Bali. Authentic, catering to local domestic travellers, yet with a world class heritage attraction. Friendly locals, though the touts selling souvenirs did get annoying.

I returned to see Borobodur after 31 years. It was as impressive as it was the last time. Everything around the temple is much better organized and channeled through the officials.
Still an amazing thing to do - I would recommend to read up on Borobodur before your visit to better understand all the stories behind it and its place in the Javanese and South East Asian history.

The information given by the guide is good and interesting, despite the fact that I am a Buddhist, there is much to learn from this trip. The thousand years old structure is just awesome but I must stress that anyone who wants to visit must do a little "home work" by reading up about Candi Borobudur , otherwise you might not catch some of the meaning behind the Candi and Buddhism. The Candi is fragile due to thousands of visitors and I urge everyone to visit with care and respect.

Borobudur temple is always so grand to look at and enjoyable in early morning or late afternoon. The history within the walls are just mesmerizing to look at.
After 9 am until around 3pm and on clear day, the sun gets too hot.
Having hats or umbrellas and plenty of water and sunscreen might help. But they won't stop the swarming sellers, before the entrance and after the exit, coming at you. So just be firm and polite and keep on walking if you do not want to buy anything from them. But if you do want to buy some souvenirs, you could bargain to a reasonable price.
I suggest to have a walk to the entrance stairs of the temple and don't forget to wear your comfortable walking shoes too.
This time around we took delman or horse carriage for around 5 minutes ride (less than 10 mins ride for sure) to the entrance stairs of the temple and, if not wrong, it cost around AUD20.
They also provide other services like train cars for a fee (can't remember how much), but I think it is better to hire them when you finished touring the temple and when your legs are too tired or when it's just too hot. Unless you want to explore the other facilities around (on the way to the exit) like checking out their museums and theatre.
You are not allowed to bring food or snacks into the temple complex (water is allowed). They will keep them for you to collect at the exit. So make sure you have enough food before going in.
We've never been to their restaurant/hotel in the complex, because there are plenty of choices of food just outside the complex.
For getting around outside the complex, in general, there are too many cars and motorbikes around the area, so you may want to keep walking on whatever pedestrian path available.
Cash is still preferable in the food chains and stalls outside the temple complex

Ofcourse its one of the things to see when your travels take you close to it. But it is a tourist trap. You can go in from 8.00 in the morning (not earlier anymore, like before you could go for sunrise, that is not possible anymore). You have to take a guided tour if you want to go up. The guide tells a lot about the history and is well trained. The costs are 500.000 rupiah pp. if you only walk around at the bottom it’s 350.000 rupiah. Before you leave the park you are guided through a fairly large market with touristy souvenirs.
Beautiful room and furniture. The bed is large and comfortable, the bathroom clean. Fresh fruits and small bites provided in the room with a personalized message. The pool is good, tea time was appreciated near the pool. We also had a massage at the hôtel spa, which was great. The setting is beautiful and proximity to Borobudur center was appreciated. Daily free shuttle to the temple is provided. Hôtel restaurants were really good, for a meal or a drink. All the staff is top-notch.
Lovely boutique type resort with all modern amenities. Loved the cottage I was in. Big and spacious. This was the at the end of the property. Away from the pool. Lovely to sit on the veranda and read. There is an homely atmosphere everywhere. Staff are very helpful. Food was excellent for me. I like Indonesian / Javanese food so was quite happy to have what was on the menu. They even went out of the way to prepare a local dish specially for me called "nasi liwet".

The room was huge , clean and comfy, lots of electrical outlets to plug in our chargers. Easy walk to Borobudur and restaurants. Grab drivers knew where it was located. The small hotel is only 1km from Borubudur, and situated among paddy field in the village. It is tranquil if the rooms are situated on the inner side. The owner, Mr. Nuri, is very friendly and responsive, and he works also as our guides to biking the village and to the sunrise spot. He seems to know everyone in the villages and friends with everyone, which makes us feel like part of the family. Breakfast is exceptionally tasty!
Top-notch hospitality, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The Javanese architecture was beautiful. Overlooking the village and Borobudur temple.
There were plenty of vegetarian dishes to choose from and they were delicious - though one dish marked as vegetarian had anchovies, not a problem for me and easy to separate from the dish. The Dadar Gulung - Indonesian coconut pancakes were delicious.
Surrounded by the rice fields and 20min walk through the village to the Borobudur Temple. Indonesian ornamented bungalows are very cosy. Good shower pressure and hot water (shower is not separated so water splashes around but this is common).
Breakfast is tasteful and lovely presented (fruits, local sweats, coffee and choice of continental or indonesian).
They offer free bikes to pedal around.
The high hotel rates also include admission fees to the top of the Borobudur Temple, breakfast and afternoon tea, which is really value for money. We do not have to queue up to buy tickets for our visit to the Stupas/top of the Borobudur Temple. This made our visit here worry-free! The garden and the park are beautiful with lots of fresh air. The environment is wonderfully relaxing!
What a beautiful place! It's a great break from Yogja. We travelled here by scooter for a few days, highly recommended. The staff is super friendly, the surrounding is quiet and the pool area coulnd't be more comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant one night (go for the 'big dinner') and that was very good. The room was huge and very luxurious with a comfortable bed.
We love the location because it is inside the Brobudur temple park. After we visit the temple we were picked up by the hotel car and was taken to the Dagi Hill to look around. Pak Yohanes was very nice and informative. The hotel was very conveniently located to other tourist spots too. We think Magelang is a nice place to relax. It's nice.
Charming private room overlooking land/rice field with a view of a mountain. Beautiful breakfast was served on our front patio with this view.Kind hosts that organized an amazing village tour with very little notice. Only a 5 minute walk to Borobudur temple. Many many eating options just a short stroll away.
Friendly smiles from the local people. Attentive staff with good service makes you feel warm. Traditional and characteristic hotel architecture. The most amazing is the stunning view outside the window. It is a wonderful and spiritual place you must stay in Borobudur.
A nice room design. Large swimming pool, so many vegetation makes the hotel feels like colder in hot and humid Magelang. there is also a private carnival for kids.
located just a couples km from Borobudur, Punthuk Setumbu can be reached within 6 minutes driving.
The atmosphere was amazing, and the hotel and the surroundings are just breathtaking. You can use their bikes to make a short trip around the area, it's absolutely worth it. The personel is just fantastic, as well as the breakfast.
We loved the Hotel Locationas it was peaceful and quiet. The room was super clean. The breakfast was as they say in the bookings ad “exceptional breakfast”. Loved our stay and would recommend it. Thank You
Staff were so kind & helpful. The pool was great. Lovely hotel setting. Meals were delicious. 5 minute walk to Borobudur temple complex. Great value. What more could you want?
