Boasting many national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.
Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.
If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.
DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guest house booked through Booking.com.

There is a lot to do in DC, plan ahead - some of the Smithsonian museums and places to see, require tickets (most are free but required) - if you don't get the tickets in advance - you may not get to see the place as a lot of folks book in advance.
Prepare to walk a lot. National Mall area has a lot of things to do but be ready to walk.
Plenty of food options all around - this should not be a problem.

I recommend taking an Uber if needing to drive anywhere or taking the Hop On/Off busses. It's the best way to get around. The traffic is awful and noisy. Lots of horns. Depending on where you go, be prepared for homeless and drug addicted people roaming the streets. Over all, there's lots to see and do. Be prepared for lines into the museums and large groups.

Washington DC is great but don’t stay at Embassy Suite...
Washington DC is great but don’t stay at Embassy Suite district by Hilton hotel .. you are paying luxury taxes but the hotel is not a luxury resort!! Another way of nickel and diming your money out of your pocket..rooms are never ready before 4pm and the lineup for check in was like one I haven’t seen except in their Miami Hilton hotel ( stayed there about 4 yrs ago.Luxury taxes on your bill then you have to go into their gift shop or restaurant/bar to use those $25.00 add on of Luxury taxes so criminal.. hotel is dated bathroom they upgrade the carpets in the rooms and lobby and a new lobby bar but the complimentary breakfast and drinks 🥲 loop warm hot meals dishes are kept below the counter ( who’s does that in a luxury hotel) knives and forks are placed in open containers for all dirty hands to touch and put back toaster old and slow you can put your toast in and take the elevator to your room take a shower and be back in time to hear it pop up..the staff picking up the dishes from the table are very friendly and always say good morning the chef cooking the breakfast o let does better when they see you drop a few dollars in their tip bottle.. Elevators run one at a time push the button and only one comes down or up Never two .. the man outside helping guest with instructions and their car works really hard always busy and kind to guest.. one more thing the small refrigerator (mini) need to be replaced items stay warm my insulin was colder in my personal ice cold container than putting it in that mini refrigerator Not a luxury hotel!! Can’t locate where is the ice no sign to tell u and you definitely need a like next to the hall phone to call the front desk can’t see the number to call about the door card not opening the door..

The Smithsonian museums were really nice!
The Smithsonian museums were really nice! We were first-time visitors and noticed arriving a bit after your booked ticket time will ensure a quick entry into the museums. The National Mall is a must and just walking around town and surrounding areas was beautiful. We walked everywhere, which can be far but there are metro busses, bicycles, and scooters to rent, so walking is not the only way to get around.

This city is beautiful, well organised, clean, safe, full of history and kind people. It is a traveler friendly city. I would like to come again. My recommendations - take Hop on-hop off bus for 2 days to explore the city at full. Do not forget to visit Georgetown.
I enjoyed my stay immensely. My room was clean, big, the bathroom and walk in shower were also big and I slept very well even though I usually travel with ear plugs anyway. The strong box was useful to keep valuables in and I was able to charge my phone right by the bed too.
As a solo traveller, this hotel was a cheaper option to many other 4 star hotels in DC.
Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan is a lovely neighbourhood.
I give the hotel 8/10 and I was happy with my choice. The staff were all kind, helpful and polite. Thanks.
We - a family with two kids (5 and 8 years old) - stayed in the Riggs for four nights. The hotel is really comfortable und its location is very good to explore the city from there. We also enjoyed the breakfast and Café Riggs. But definitely the best of Riggs is the chief of concierge Tiffany Gary. She not only gave us valuable advice for our stay in Washington and helped us to get tickets, but also provided a pleasant surprise at the next stop of our trip in New York. Thank you, Tiffany.
I was in DC for a conference that was taking place across the street, and the Henley was an excellent - and much cheaper - alternative to the conference hotel. The staff were very friendly, and you cannot beat the location if you have work in that area of the city. It is only about a ten minute walk from the Vernon Sq metro station. The room was very clean and not dated at all. There is a bar on the ground floor that looked nice although I did not actually spend any time there.
Excellent, very well-located hotel. The equipment of the apartments is unique, just like the architecture of the whole hotel. Very good breakfasts, very good restaurant, and happy hours, during which one could get drinks and snacks free of charge.
This hotel has a swimming pool area with a hot jacuzzi, which is very pleasant and allows you to relax well after a day of work or sightseeing. If I came to Washington DC again, I would only stay at this hotel.
Beds and comforter were very comfortable! The rooms were very soundproof—I’m sensitive to noise and in hotels normally the walls are super thin, but the rooms at the Line were extremely quiet and I couldn’t hear any of my neighbors! My room was also very spacious even as I booked the cheapest available. Bartender was very kind and knowledgeable about cocktails—highly recommend trying the cocktails they are delicious!
Hotel room and facilities were nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. Location is great. 20 minute walk to the Lincoln memorial and national mall area and about 4 minutes from the GWU-Foggy Bottom Metro Station. Taking the metro was an extremely cheap and quick way to get around the city. Cleanest metro stations and cars I have ever seen. Basically a luxury cabin compared to Boston and NYC subways.
I loved their decor, classy with quirky historic vibes. I especially loved the closeness to the Capital Building which we were able to take a nice night time walk to. Parking lot across the street is much cheaper than hotel. Room provides with 2 bottles of complimentary water which is great. Room was very clean. They allow dogs to stay which we loved since we travel with ours.
2500 Penn is a well positioned hotel, in a calm area not far from the heart of Washington. Rooms are big (one bedroom and one living room with the possibility of a sofa-bed) and the staff is ready to help you. 24 hours check-in it's a plus for late arrivals at the airport, and the possibility of self check via mobile helps to save time
Breakfast/hotel room/location/hotel staff very friendly. Special mention to Trent who worked has reception very helpful, kind, my next visit to Washington we are going to choose the same hotel just because of friendly staff all departments this will include breakfast staff as well best staff all of them.
Great location. Easy walk to White House and Hop on Hop off bus stop. Very close to a Wholefood Market and cheap eats. Room was clean and spacious. Beds very comfy. Big windows as well. We were very pleased with our choice. Hotel has a lovely bar and restaurant on site as well.
This place is consistently a great experience. It is clean, comfortable and boasts a friendly staff. Not the fanciest hotel I have experienced but after numerous stays to visit my daughter at Foggy Bottom, I prefer it to all the others including the nearby Marriott.
Neighbourhood is fantastic, real old Washington with small houses, so finding such a nice hotel comes as a real surprise. Rooms are spacious and quiet, staff friendly and helpful, no matter how many people there are at the reception desk.
Location near White House and not far away from main attractions (museums etc.). Easy to get to and from hotel using public transportation. Quiet room. Wifi was good in my room. For this price and location it was very good value.
It was clean, staff was kind and helpful, lobby area was interesting and well decorated, location was good. There was no parking lot but staff helped get one close to the hotel which was way cheaper than other hotels’ options.
The hotel was historic in a great location. It was different than a chain such as the Marriott. The restaurant had an amazing wait staff. We appreciated the head waiter's attention to our time in Washington, DC.
Excellent location near really good restaurants like Tatte across the street. Excellent bar tenders at the hotel, best espresso martini I’ve ever had. Front staff also were very nice!
Superb location near Union Station and Capitol Hill. Very nice staff, free coffee and breakfast is available in the adjacent pub. This hotel was a great find.
